Safety & Security
Your safety and security are important to us. For SOFIC, we continue to implement enhanced security measures. Here is what you can expect and should prepare for as you plan your SOFIC experience:
Registration Requirements
You must present a government-issued photo ID to pick up your badge on-site. Each person must pick up their own badge.
Tips to Speed Up Your Entrance
Leave luggage, large bags, and bulky clothing at your hotel. No coat or luggage check will be available at the convention center.
Plan ahead! Allow extra time to enter show venues and arrive at meetings and events.
Bag Search & Security Procedures
For security purposes, first time access for all attendees to the Tampa Convention Center is via the Channelside Entry on the second level. Here you will go through security and are subject to bag checks. Once registered with your conference badge, you will be able to access all entrances.
- All items and bags carried will be carefully inspected upon entry to the TCC which may include a personal wanding.
- SOFIC Security strongly discourages guests/vendors from bringing Backpacks, Bags, Luggage, Parcels and Briefcases. If the aforementioned items are necessary, they will be subject to search at all times and access to the TCC will be delayed for these searches.
- Recommended bags are to be no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”, unless using the official SOFIC clear backpack provided. If using the official SOFIC backpack you will be able to be visually inspected processed through the entry points faster.
- An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection.
- Any other items deemed unlawful or dangerous may be prohibited at the discretion of SOFIC security personnel.
*Exhibitors/Vendors may bring materials in larger cases, but they will be searched and wait times will be longer for entry to the facility.
It is strongly encouraged that exhibitors ship any items ahead of time to the advanced warehouse. Shipping information can be found in the GES exhibitor service kit.
Weapons and Prohibited Items
Guests, including law enforcement personnel not present in an official capacity, are prohibited from bringing weapons into the TCC. TCC does not provide lockers of any type. Weapons include, but are not limited to, the following: firearms, explosives, stun guns, handcuffs, brass knuckles, sticks, clubs, batons, martial arts instruments, pepper spray, tear gas and knives. Guests found in possession of the above-mentioned items will be asked to remove the item from the TCC or dispose of it. Guests who refuse to comply will not be permitted entry into the TCC.
Please Note: All large bags and pelican cases will be searched. Please be sure to leave sufficient time to get through security and registration.
